presents St Louis artists
Anlässlich des 60-jährigen Jubiläums der Städtepartnerschaft zwischen Stuttgart und St. Louis, USA, präsentiert die vhs-photogalerie aktuelle amerikanische Fotografie aus der Partnerstadt. 
Im ohnehin bewegten Jahr 2020 findet die Wahl des nächsten amerikanischen Präsidenten statt. Die Wahl, und der damit verbundene Wahlkampf unter den Bewerbern beherrschen monatelang das politische Geschehen weltweit. Die Ausstellung »VOTE for …« bezieht sich auf die Wahlwerbung, jedoch zählen hier nicht die Kandidaten. Den Titel »VOTE for …« verstehen die US-amerikanischen KünstlerInnen als Aufforderung unsere demokratischen Werte wie Gerechtigkeit, Freiheit und Gleichheit zu untersuchen.
Die Ausstellung ist eine Kooperation der vhs-photogalerie (Kuratorin Bettina Michel) mit den Künstler-Kuratoren Julia Wenz und Peter Franck den Initiatoren des Künstleraustauschs in Zusammenarbeit mit den amerikanischen Co-Kuratoren Mike Behle und David Johnson. Die Gedok-Stuttgart und paulartspace in St. Louis sind bei diesem Austausch ebenfalls Projektpartner.

presents St Louis artists


On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the sister-cities Stuttgart and St Louis/USA, the vhs-photogalerie presents contemporary american  photography from St Louis.
At the end of this eventful year 2020 the election of the next american president will take place. The election and the associated election campaign, dominate political events around the globe for months.
The exhibition »VOTE for ...« refers to the election advertising but the candidates do not count here. The US artists understand the title »VOTE for ...« as an invitation to examine democratic values ​​such as justice, freedom and equality.

The exhibition is a cooperation of vhs-photogalerie (curator Bettina Michel) with the artists and curators Julia Wenz and Peter Franck (the initiators of the artist exchange). In cooperation with the american co-curators David Johnson and Mike Behle.

Gedok-Stuttgart and paulartspace in St. Louis are the institutions who host the artistic exchange.
